Choose Your Level of Anonymity

UniChat gives you complete control over your identity. Before creating each post, you can choose to show your username or post completely anonymously.

When you select anonymous mode for a post, other users will only see "anonymous" - but you'll see "anonymous (you)" so you can track your own posts. Your anonymous posts won't appear on your profile, giving you true privacy when you need it.

Share sensitive topics, ask personal questions, or speak your mind — without fear of judgment. You decide the privacy level for each individual post.

Meet Profile (Optional)

Privacy Protection

Identities Stay Separate
Your real name and username are never linked publicly. Other users can't connect your Meet profile to your forum posts.

University Forum

Start topics and join discussions specific to your university. Ask questions about classes, share experiences, and get advice from fellow students. Choose to post with your username or completely anonymously.

Meet New People (Optional)

Choose to create a detailed Meet profile with photos, interests, and preferences. Connect with classmates for study groups, friendships, or shared interests - your Meet identity stays completely separate from your forum posts.

Direct Messaging

Take conversations private with secure messaging. Build deeper connections with classmates, ask for help with assignments, or just chat about university life in a safe environment.

Simple Sign-Up, Maximum Privacy

Create your UniChat account with just three things: your university email (for verification), a username of your choice, and a password. That's it!

Your username can be anything - "johnny," "studybuddy2025," or "anonymousstudent." It's completely separate from your real identity and can't be traced back to you.

Want to use the Meet feature later? You can always add profile details, but your forum discussions will remain completely separate from your Meet profile.

Two Completely Separate Identities

Your forum identity and Meet profile are completely separate. Other users can't connect them, ensuring your privacy and allowing you to control how much you share in different contexts.

In forums, you're known by your username (which can be anything). In Meet, you have a detailed profile with photos and interests. These identities never overlap.

This means you can freely discuss sensitive topics in forums while maintaining a separate social presence in Meet.

Meet Feature: Discover Your Campus

Once you create a Meet profile, you'll be able to swipe through real students from your university. See photos, interests, and bios to connect for study groups, new friendships — or just to see who’s out there.

Swipe right to show interest, left to pass. If both people swipe right, you can start chatting and potentially meet up for study sessions, coffee, or just hanging out.

Remember: Your Meet profile is completely separate from your forum identity, so you control exactly how much you share in each context.

Forum: Your Anonymous Voice

In the forum, you can choose to post with your username or completely anonymously. This gives you the freedom to build a reputation for helpful advice while also feeling safe to ask sensitive questions.

Toggle between modes with a simple switch - when anonymous, only you can see it's your post (marked as "anonymous (you)"). Everyone else just sees "anonymous."

This flexibility makes UniChat perfect for everything from academic questions to personal struggles to campus-specific discussions.

Multiple Layers of Privacy Protection

Start with just email, username, and password. Your forum identity stays anonymous. If you choose to use Meet, that profile is completely separate - other users can't link your real name to your username.

Meet Feature: Your Choice to Connect Deeper

Want to meet people beyond anonymous forum discussions? The Meet feature is completely optional and requires additional profile information to ensure meaningful connections.

What you'll need for Meet: Real name, age, gender, major, photos, and interests. You can also add optional details like height, Instagram/Spotify links, fun facts, and matching preferences.

Privacy Protection: Your Meet profile is completely separate from your forum identity. If your username is "johnny" and your real name is "John Smith," other users will never know they're the same person.

One-time Information: Your real name and birthdate can only be set once to maintain authenticity and prevent fake profiles.

Meet Profile Requirements

Required:

  • Real name (one-time only)
  • Birthdate (one-time only)
  • Gender & sexual orientation
  • Major & at least 2 photos

Optional:

  • Bio, interests, fun facts
  • Social links, preferences
